How much does a wedding DJ cost and what are standard market DJ prices for weddings?

Most bridal couples opt for a Saturday evening in the summer months. Logically, I take such a wedding in the Zurich area as an example. In more than 90 % of the cases I bring all the equipment (speakers, DJ controller and light effects). The following services are of course included in the wedding DJ prices:

  • Attendance time incl. set-up and dismantling of the equipment from 4 pm to 3 am, i.e. 11 hours.
  • Food accompaniment with discreet background music
  • Seamless transition to the best party sound
  • Party up to 2 or 3 o'clock
  • No additional costs, if the event should last longer than agreed
  • Wireless microphone for games and guest speeches
  • Return journey included in the price
  • Costs for preparations and clarifications

Based on the points described above, I demand the following for my commitment between 1’500 and 1’750 CHF. Do you want to know exactly? Get in touch with me by filling out this Quotation form. I will get back to you immediately with a non-binding offer.

When is it cheaper to book a DJ for the wedding?

The following reasons can reduce wedding DJ prices:

  • A complete DJ-compatible system is already available on site (ideally with a light show).
  • Finish early (e.g. midnight), which is often the case in open-air venues.
  • Low season and parties during the week are also usually a little cheaper.
  • Birthday parties are often cheaper as my services are usually less expensive. You can get information about me as Birthday DJ like to catch up.

When is hiring a wedding DJ associated with higher costs?

There are some circumstances that lead to additional costs and drive up the wedding DJ prices:

  • Long journey possibly with overnight stay
  • Musical accompaniment of ceremonies or aperitifs in the afternoon by the wedding DJ.
  • Several rooms have to be played in. The DJ either works with several music systems or sets up and dismantles the equipment several times.
  • Open-ended parties until the early hours of the morning.

Why are DJ prices for professional DJs higher than for hobby DJs?

DJ Daniel the professional event DJ and wedding DJ from Zurich

I was 10 years as a full-time DJ. In the meantime I am a Professional DJ as a part-time DJ, because in addition to my work as a DJ, I also have another 70% job. In contrast to a hobby DJ who only occasionally plays for friends, there are big differences.

The following points explain to the bride and groom why the wedding DJ prices of a hobby DJ are a fraction of professional DJs:

  • Modern and impeccable Music and lighting equipment in various sizes.
  • Replacement equipment and replacement laptop.
  • My Light show is matched to the rhythm (BPM).
  • Regular appearances at weddings, company events, birthday parties and clubs.
  • Extensive expertise built up over many years with a broad repertoire of music and a feeling for when which song is right to get the guests going.
  • Intensive preparation before every event.
  • Contractual protection.
  • Large DJ network to provide adequate replacements in the event of an emergency.
  • Self-employment: My DJ income is taxed and AHV is deducted from it.

If you want your guests to be impressed by the best party of her life talk, it's worth spending money on a professional DJ. The easiest way to find out is to make a non-binding Offer catch up.
